Civil engineering technician – Project coordinator,  Calgary

Skyrocketing demand for reinforcing steel in Alberta has prompted AGF to assign major resources to serving this market. We are looking for experienced people to carry out major projects announced in the province.

AGF – Alberta Rebar Inc. is a new company within the group and will concentrate its activities in the great Calgary area.

AGF – Alberta Rebar Inc. needs to find a Civil engineering technician – Project coordinator that will insure preparation of accurate and concise placing drawings and coordination of site reinforcing steel requirements.

Main responsibilities

·Organizing, planning and inspecting project drawings assigned to him/her.

·Communicating with contractors' and Engineers' to ensure that information is accurate.

·Preparing accurate, concise shop drawings and barlists by calculating the amounts of reinforcing steel needed by the Engineer in determining the length, diameter and bend dimensions calculated for the steel to be manufactured. Identifying needs, with the plant supervisor and/or the customer, in accordance with site requirements.

·Managing changes to the initial plan as they arise.

·Verify that the bar lists detailed by external firms are accurate, fabricated and delivered on time.

Education and experience 

·College diploma in civil technology, construction technology, or vocational diploma in technical drafting.

Technical skills 

·          Advanced knowledge of project management and reading of concrete structural blueprints.

·          Intermediate-level knowledge of Autocad, MicroStation or of any other equivalent software.

·          Intermediate-level knowledge of software (spreadsheet, Word, etc.).

Organizational and interpersonal skills

·          Multi-purposed
