Chief of engineering technicians for reinforcing steel - Calgary

Skyrocketing demand for reinforcing steel in Alberta has prompted AGF to assign major resources to serving this market. We are looking for experienced people to carry out major projects announced in the province.

AGF – Alberta Rebar Inc. is a new company within the group and will concentrate its activities in the great Calgary area.

AGF – Alberta Rebar Inc. needs to find an Chief civil engineering technician (internally called Chief detailer) that will supervise the work of the civil engineering technicians.

Main responsibilities 

·Planning, organizing, directing, overseeing and evaluating construction projects from beginning to end, in compliance with the work schedule, specifications and budget allocations.

·Planning and preparing work schedules and steps to be followed, distributing projects to detailers and checking progress with respect to these data. Coordinating and planning the activities of the installers.

·Coordinating the drafting department, supervising and training detailers, hiring staff.

·Managing the detailing activities associated with major projects.

REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications/Skills

Education and experience

·College diploma in civil engineering or architecture, or vocational diploma in technical drafting

·At least 10 years of experience in a drafting department

Technical skills

·Familiarity with Word, Excel and all other software used at AGF – Alberta Rebar Inc.

·Intermediate-level knowledge of MicroStation and / or any other equivalent software

Organizational and interpersonal skills

·Strong capacity for teamwork and excellent leadership skills

·Results-oriented

·Customer-oriented

·Strong capacity for solving problems within very tight deadlines

·Ability to work well under pressure
